We are pleased to announce our first event for Spring quarter, which will exceptionally take place TUESDAY, April 9, 4pm-5:30pm. Our guest speaker will be Bernard Franco (Université Paris - Sorbonne, Comparative literature) who will be giving a lecture entitled "Laocoon: the Expression of Time in Space". Professor Franco will talk about Lessing's Laocoon and the aesthetic debates that it generated, in France and Germany, on the relation between literature and the plastic arts. 

 

There is no pre-circulated reading for this event. Please RSVP to Biliana Kassabova (bilianak [at] stanford.edu (bilianak[at]stanford[dot]edu)) regarding your attendance. 

 

As usual, we will meet in Pigott Hall, Room 216. We will start with light snacks and drinks at 4pm, which will be followed by Professor Franco's lecture, followed by discussion.
