We are very excited to announce the first event of the winter quarter of Comics: More than Words, supported by the Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages (DLCL) and kindly sponsored by the Department of English and the Department of Art & Art History at Stanford.
For the first event in our Computer Science Edition, we will be hosting Ecy King, an undergraduate student in Symbolic Systems and Masters student in Computer Science, who will be presenting her comic Bit by Bit. In this talk, Ecy King will introduce us to her comic and its characters, will discuss its reading format, and will tell us a little bit about her creative process and what inspired her to produce this educational comic for Stanford's CS 106A and CS 106B courses.
Ecy King is a senior at Stanford University studying Symbolic Systems with a concentration in Human-Centered AI. At Stanford, Ecy enjoys being a class president, section leading CS with the 198 program, writing for the Stanford Daily, and spending time with friends. Ecy is also interested in studying gamification in education.
The event will be in-person, and will take place in Pigott Hall, Room 252, on January 24, 2023 at 12pm (PT). In preparation for the talk and the subsequent discussion, please take a look at this selection from Bit by Bit that Ecy prepared for us.
