Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Students,
I am happy to invite you to the third event of our DLCL Focal Group on Persian, Arabic, Turkish, and Hebrew: the visit of Elias Muhanna from Brown University. 1:00-2:30pm, Tuesday 31 January in 260-252 with the title “Comparative Literature and Islamicate Languages.”
He is the Manning Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature at Brown: https://vivo.brown.edu/display/emuhanna. He is also a contributing writer for newyorker.com (http://www.newyorker.com/contributors/elias-muhanna), runs the Digital Islamic Humanities Project (https://islamichumanities.org/), has a translation just out with Penguin (https://goo.gl/3vTwWX) and a monograph forthcoming from Princeton University Press in late 2017.
You can RSVP here: https://goo.gl/0MPTKM, although this is not necessary. Feel free to just turn up, and to share the details of the event with Stanford students and faculty. Light snacks will be provided.
Do let me know if you have any questions at all and looking forward to seeing you soon,
