The Department of French and Italian at Stanford University is pleased to invite you for a fascinating hour devoted to Mary Jo Bang’s new translation of Dante’s Purgatorio (Graywolf Press, 2021).

Stanford Emeritus Professor Marjorie Perloff and Italianist Donatella D’Aguanno will join Mary Jo Bang in a broad ranging discussion about Dante’s middle canticle, the challenges of translating Dante, and other related topics. The discussion will be moderated by Stanford Professor Robert Pogue Harrison.
