In this Oscar nominated film, Sarah Polley explores the secrets kept by a family of storytellers, and shows how the truth depends on who’s telling it.  Investigating as a detective, she asks several characters to answer the same questions in an interview format. This collection of testimonies builds little by little into a complex and intriguing family mythology. Twisting the genre of the documentary by filming her own relatives, she unravels a touching mess of true lies.
