Join us for a discussion with ILAC alumni. In the second panel, speakers will discuss their experiences in careers outside of academia. Followed by Q&A. Talks will be in English or Spanish. Open to all DLCL graduate students.

Chris Kark, Senior Product Designer at ThrivePass
Chris Kark is a product designer with a background in communications and content strategy. His work centers on crafting simple yet flexible user experiences that humanize the technologies they inhabit. Since 2018, he has spearheaded design and product strategy at ThrivePass, a technology company focused on vitalizing the employee experience. Prior to joining ThrivePass, he freelanced as an editor and designer and held positions in communications design at Stanford, Twitter, and Shmoop.
 
Cuauhtémoc García-García, CEO of Imaging Allergy Testing
Cuauhtémoc García-García obtained a B.Sc. in Physics from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and a PhD in Molecular Biophysics at Johns Hopkins. He completed his second Ph.D. here in ILAC, where his research focused on analysis of the evolution of written language using data mining techniques. After graduating, he held the positions of Senior Scientist and CTO at Quantapore, Inc. and Spatial Genomics, Inc., respectively. At present, he is the CEO of Imaging Allergy Testing and works as an independent scholar in the evolution of Spanish and Portuguese.
 
Marcela Junguito, School Principal at Gimnasio Femenino (Bogotá, Colombia)
Marcela Junguito specializes in nineteenth and twentieth-century Latin American literature, theory, and cultural criticism, with an emphasis on Mexico; Transatlantic Studies; Catalan exile literature; and Critical Theory. She has fifteen years of experience in the education sector, including teaching, administrative, and leadership positions. She is passionate about literature and culture and is a committed advocate for high quality education for girls and young women in Colombia and worldwide.
