A third of Stanford’s humanities PhD alumni will enter careers beyond academia. What are viable options? In this hands-on workshop, we will work together to explore a new free online tool, called ImaginePhD. Bring your laptop and we will work through self-assessments of values, skills and interests. We will discuss next steps to explore possible career paths. This workshop is designed to follow the HEFG series this year, and will provide students who are curious about pursuing non-academic careers with the practical tools they will need to take the next steps during their time at Stanford.

This session is led by Chris Golde, Career Educator at BEAM, Stanford Career Education. Her expertise comes from over 25 years of research, teaching, and administrative experience in graduate education. Before joining BEAM, she was Associate Vice Provost for Graduate Education in the VPGE office at Stanford, Senior Scholar at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, and a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds a PhD in education and an MA in sociology, both from Stanford University.
