In his talk, Legrás addresses the question of how an initial revolutionary event is both preserved and transformed in its cultural and political codifications. The talk outlines how Legrás will approach this problem in a book project tentatively titled 1921, How Culture Invented a Nation for the Mexican Revolution.

Horacio Legrás teaches Latin American literature and is Director of the Critical Theory Institute at UC–Irvine.
