Come join Spanish & Portuguese Ph.Ds Julie Minich (University of Texas at Austin) and Carmen Sanjuán (Scripps College) for a conversation on entering the profession, the critical apparatus they developed during their graduate studies here, and how they have developed and applied it in their scholarly work as assistant professors. They will also share tips on preparing for tenure and pre-tenure moves to another university. Lunch will be served.

Julie Minich (Ph.D. 2008) worked as an Assistant Professor of English at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) until 2013, when she accepted a position as Assistant Professor of English, Mexican American Studies, and Women and Gender Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She is the author of Accessible Citizenships: Disability, Nation, and the Cultural Politics of Greater Mexico (Temple University Press, 2013).

Carmen Sanjuán (Ph.D. 2009) is an Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies at Scripps College. She is completing work on a manuscript based on the dissertation, Renegotiating National Identity In Democratic Spain: Visions Of A Multi-Ethnic Society in Contemporary Narrative and Film.
