Political Ecologies "Socialism & Stuff"

Laurence Coderre (NYU), author of Newborn Socialist Things: Materiality in Maoist China (Duke, 2021) and Jacqueline Loss (UConn), author of Caviar with Rum: Cuba-USSR and the Post-Soviet Experience (co-edited, Palgrave, 2012). Panelists will discuss material paradigms under socialism in strikingly different, but also converging, cultural contexts. Respondents: Prof. Ewa Domańska (Adam Mickiewicz U/ French and Italian, Stanford) and Melissa Hosek (East Asian Languages and Cultures, Stanford).
