With speaker Ranak Trivedi Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (Public Mental Health and Population Sciences)

Drawing from several clinical studies in the US and in India (?), this talk discusses the challenge of involving the family in providing care to those with chronic illness. In particular, it explores the different ways in which families are oriented to be involved in care in India and in the Bay Area (?) and the challenges this presents to clinician and patient alike.

Speaker Bio: Dr. Trivedi is a clinical health psychologist and health services researcher whose work reimagines health care as not only patient-centered but also “framily”-centered, engaging both patients and their loved ones in care and decision-making. She is an Associate Chief of Public Mental Health and Population Sciences at Stanford University’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences . Her research has informed VA and national policy and developed innovative dyadic self-management programs to support patients and caregivers alike.
