Show Me Your Words! Integrating Theatrical Aspects into the FL Classroom

When we ask our students to converse in a foreign language, we are always – to some degree – asking them to take on a role different from their usual native-speaker persona. Thus, we are already in a good position to push the theatrical in our FL classrooms. In my talk, I will introduce you to different approaches of integrating performative creativity into all levels of FL instruction, ranging from suggestions for writing and/or performing short scenes to staging a full-length performance of an entire play. 

Dr. Christina Wegel is Senior Lecturer in German and Director of Elementary Language Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
