A one-day event on current trends in the scholarly study of material culture. The conference will feature current research work on the materiality, mobility, circulation, and interpretation of objects. By thinking through these objects and their historical trajectories, this conference encourages a multidimensional approach that brings together Literature, Cultural Studies, Art History, and Anthropology, as well as Political Economy, History of Science, Architecture, and Heritage Studies.
The event will be focused on –but not limited to– the field of Latin American studies. Panels will be held in English (unless specified otherwise); questions may be asked in English and/or Spanish.
