Betty Manling Luan Erfe

After graduating from Stanford in 2007, I worked at several nonprofit organizations in Washington DC serving low-income communities. At the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center, I managed the multilingual hotline and assisted low-income Chinese elderly tenants from being evicted from their Section 8 housing. Subsequently, I was the Co-Director of the Advocates Program at the Domestic Violence Resource Project, where I assisted women, who are/were subject to domestic violence by their intimate partners, to seek safety and services. In my spare time, I served on the Steering Committee of the Asian American Health Initiative, and attended health fairs on weekends to educate the community on health issues prevalent in the Asian community. Seeking a long-term career in direct service provision, I decided to pursue medicine. I am currently a student at Harvard Medical School.
