Esther von Stosch
Esther von Stosch completed her B.A. and M.A. in German Studies and Middle Eastern Studies with an emphasis on premodern literature and culture at the University of Cologne, Germany. During her masters, she did a semester abroad at Sorbonne University in Paris and completed a research project on diverging memory narratives in Jerusalem. Since April 2021, she has taken part in a dual degree program at the University of Cologne and the University of Arizona to obtain her Ph.D. in Transcultural German Studies. At Stanford University, she currently holds a lecturer position in the Department of German Studies and will start her postdoctoral position here in January 2026.
Von Stosch’s research interests include medieval and early modern literature, literary and cultural history, transcultural comparative literature with an emphasis on German and Persian texts and contexts, as well as material and postcolonial theory.
