Phoebus Cotsapas

I'm a Ph.D. candidate in French, working mainly on the Enlightenment. I completed my undergraduate studies in Philosophy and French at the University of Oxford in 2014, and my M.St. in Modern Languages (Enlightenment Studies), also at Oxford, in 2015. I then spent a year working as a lecteur d’anglais at Université Paris X (Nanterre) before moving to California to start working on my doctorate in September 2016. My research so far has primarily focused on the treatment of mortality and posterity in late-seventeenth and eighteenth century European literature and philosophy. Other interests include but are not limited to classical reception, the ethics of literature, and Marcel Proust.
