Roanne Kantor is an assistant professor of English at Stanford University. She studies literary circulations in the Global South, including writing in English, Spanish, Hindi, and Urdu. Her first book, South Asian Writers, Latin American Literature, and the Unexpected Journey to Global English is forthcoming in Studies in World Literature at Cambridge University Press, and is a winner of the ACLA Helen Tartar First Book Subvention Prize for 2021. Her translation of Juan José Saer's La mayor, published by Open Letter Press in 2015, is the winner of the 2009 Susan Sontag prize. In 2021 it was adapted for the stage by the Old Globe Theatre.
