I am primarily interested in Eastern European literatures and cultural practices that cluster around the turns of the 19th and 20th centuries. I am, relatedly, interested in religious traditions of the Russian Imperial, Soviet, and contemporary periods and approaches to literature that are informed by religious studies, narratology, and materialism.
My undergraduate education was at Occidental College in Los Angeles. In between that degree and Stanford, I taught English in Yelabuga (a small town in central Tatarstan) through the Fulbright program, translated stories by Maya Kucherskaya in association with the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA), and babysat.
