Sophie Dufays is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the FNRS (Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research), working at the University of Louvain (UCL, Louvain-la-Neuve). Her doctoral thesis, defended in February 2012, concerned the child’s figure in Post-Dictatorship Argentinian Cinema. She has published various articles about the cinematic functions and roles of the child character and the uses of allegory in films, in collective books and journals such as Hispanic Review or Le Bulletin Hispanique. Her book El niño en el cine argentino de la postdictadura will be published by Tamesis in November 2014. Her current research regards the persistence of melodrama as a model and an anti-model in contemporary Argentine and Mexican cinemas.
