Romance Language
The Romance Language Reading Group offers a space for graduate students in the DLCL to actively engage with primary texts from the romance tradition in a comparative framework. Established in 2016, the RLRG also seeks to provide opportunities for incoming graduate students to familiarize themselves with the intellectual community of the Division in an informal setting.
Each quarter the members of the group choose a theme along with related works in the original language (translations are also circulated) that we discuss during three quarterly meetings; every meeting is introduced by a member of the group, who opens the discussion with a series of remarks on the assigned works. Previous themes include: the fantastic, ecocritical narrative, literature and war, and ghost stories.
