Congratulations to Jennifer Alpert (Social Science Research Scholar, Iberian and Latin American Cultures; IDEAL Provostial Fellow, Stanford University) for receiving the Society for Cinema and Media Studies 2024 Distinguished Service Award!

The award recognizes sustained commitment to the Society (the flagship association for this discipline) and the Board of Directors nominates and selects the winner. They are not required to select a winner every year, but only when a worthy candidate emerges. Dr. Alpert was recognized for her role as editor of the Journal of Cinema and Media Studies' Teaching Media Dossier, and her dedication to inclusivity and equity as well as contributions to the ongoing pedagogical education and scholarly dialogue within cinema and media studies.
